 Babies Gotta Have It

Make Meaning, the new crafting experience that opened on the Upper West Side last week, is such a place.  The Bean, her Granny and I trudged through a downpour that could only be seen as a harbinger of weather to come, and arrived drenched and chilled in what I can best describe as a crafter’s fairyland.  Ceramics.  Glass.  Jewelry. Paper. Candles (flame free for the little ones). Soap.   Bring your preschooler and paint together.  Bring your preschooler, your girlfriend and her preschooler, and sip cappuccinos while knowledgeable and friendly “Aces” (as they call their employees) guide your children through age appropriate art projects.  While I was treated to a tour of the location, Granny and the Bean happily created two ceramic pieces (which were subsequently fired and look awesome), a purple glittery soap with a little bunny toy inside (Bean chooses the colors, scents and toys–Aces pour the soap), and a beaded bracelet complete with a glass bumblebee bead (Bean chose the beads, did the stringing and an Ace finished the project).
